A loan of $5,975 helped a member to purchase novelty items and bags.

El Arenal Group's story

The “Arenal” (Sands) group is composed of eight women who are from the same locality, San Agustin Mextepec. They tell us they have known each other since they were very young and have always lived near one another. They chose their name themselves and chose “Arenal” because they live where there is a sandy area and the sand is very satiny.

The members of the group have requested funding to invest in their businesses: Zenaida in novelty items, Isabel in strainers and floor cloths, Maria Gloria in blenders, Alicia Flores in a store, Rosa Ma in cleaning products and Rosa in cleaning products.

Veronica is part of the group. Arenal tells us that she is 25 years old and married to Sr. Librado with whom she has formed a family of three children, who are now attending school. Vero tells us that she sells bags and novelty items at a shop in San Felipe. She is just starting her business and is requesting a loan at this time to purchase more bags that are in style and that will sell better. She notes that a difficulty is the lack of resources to buy more merchandise, however a loan will help her acquire inventory and sell more.

Vero says that she would like her business to grow so that she can earn more income, which would greatly help improve her quality of life and that of her family because she is worried about the upcoming expenses of sending her children to school.

Vero and the group are very happy and grateful for the funding provided since they will be able to invest in their earnings.
