A loan of $750 helped to buy farm supplies.

Edwin Alexander's story

Edwin, 20, is single living with his three brothers who are 18, 15 and 12 years old respectively since his mother died seven months ago and he’s responsible for them because he’s the oldest and his step-father remarried four months after his mother died which is why Edwin states that it’s his obligation to move his brothers forward. He comments that his dream is to work and to see his brothers grow.

He started working in agriculture with his step-father at the age of 8 and now that he’s been left alone he’s grateful to his step-father for having taught him the work. Edwin rises at 4:30am to prepare food for his brothers and then heads out to the place where he works for seven hours to then return home. To buy the supplies he needs, Edwin has to make a ten-minute walk to catch a bus that takes him to the city; the bus takes forty-five minutes to arrive.

The loan that Edwin is asking Fundación Campo for is to buy a bag of seeds, two bags of fertilizer and a liter of herbicide to plant 7,000 square meters of land. In this way he will be able to plant since winter has arrived and the soil is ready to be planted. In this way there will be corn for his food and also for the chickens he has.

Edwin wants to work very hard and to save because he comments that in the next few years if God grants him life he plans to plant more than he does at present. Besides, he’d like to get married and form his own family and to build his house.
