A loan of $850 helped to buy organic fertilizer for his coffee.

Juan's story

Juan’s family has always worked growing coffee and since he was nine-years-old he started learning little by little from his father how to work the farms. Now he’s 45-years-old and married to Flor with whom he has four children he’s teaching just like his father taught him.

The coffee he produces alongside his family is organic since he uses no chemical products. They also don’t use chemicals in the weeding process; they do it manually, that is they themselves remove the branches, weeds and trash that accumulates.

Juan needs a loan because he must buy organic manure for his plants and do the chores to prepare his field. In addition to producing coffee, Juan also
produces a bit of sugarcane that he sells to have an extra income for his family.

In the future, Juan would like to buy a large farming estate where sugarcane is processed and he’s saving money to make his dream a reality.
