A loan of $1,600 helped a member to buy products for her business such as clothing, cosmetics, and shoes.

Las Escogidas 2 Group's story

Kenia is the coordinator of her group, Las Escogidas 2. This group is located in the rural area of San Pedro de Macorís, surrounded by sugar cane fields where there is no potable running water, and electricity is unreliable. She makes her home in a simple structure with her long-term partner and their two children. Kenia is excited to be taking her 8th loan with Esperanza, almost four years after she started doing business and taking out loans. She plans to use this loan to invest in her business. She sells miscellaneous products like clothing, cosmetics and beauty products, and shoes. She will use her profits to start to reinvest and to save. Her most important future plan is to have a house with a nice and safer structure. She likes to work. She thanks all of you for your support.
