A loan of $625 helped to buy supplies for his next coffee crop.

Miguel Ángel's story

Miguel learned coffee farming from his father and has made his living from it since he was 18 years old. He is 42 years old now and he, his wife and 5 children grow organic coffee beans. That is, they do no use chemical fertilizers, something that is good for both consumers and the environment. Miguel and his family harvested 7 tons of coffee from their last harvest, but they have enough land to sow coffee plants that can yield 10 tons for their next harvest. Miguel is applying for a loan so that he can prepare his land and buy organic fertilizers for his next crop. Miguel and his family also grow sugar cane, a common crop in the area where they live. Miguel hopes that he can send his children to college, something he'll have to save money for because there are no universities nearbly.
