A loan of $1,250 helped to buy coffee plants and prepare the soil for planting.

Adolfo's story

Adolfo has been growing coffee for ten years although his grandparents taught him everything related to this crop when he was little. He used to work as an elementary school teacher but did not have enough time to work his farm so he retired so that he could go into this activity full-time.

His last harvest produced 11 tons of organic coffee and he needs a loan to be able to clear the fields and prepare the soil to plant more coffee. Unlike most growers who want to increase their production, he wants to increase his coffee’s quality and continue to keep the soil in good condition by means of organic fertilizers that don’t damage the environment because he wants to leave his children and grandchildren good land so that they can continue with the family tradition of growing coffee in the future.

In the photo, Adolfo is showing us one of the coffee plants he’s about to plant and in the background we can see other crops like corn that are used for personal family consumption.
