A loan of $250 helped a member to buy fertilizers for farmland.

Leat's Group's story

Leat is 32 years old and married. She has two dependent children who are still in school. Cassava planting is her single main source of family’s income to make a living in a village of Dambae district of Cambodia. She has been in this business for several years. The main challenge for her family’s business is the drop in cassava’s price which affected her family’s income.

Leat is on her second loan with VisionFund while the other member of the group is just with VisionFund this loan cycle. Leat completely paid back the first loan, which has helped her afford to buy household necessities. With her current business, she can earn around 16,000 KHR per day. With a good business, she is leading her group to apply for a loan of 500,000 KHR each. As the leader, she wants to use her portion to buy fertilizers for farmland and use a portion of it to spend for land preparation. She hopes this loan will make her business prosper and she also hopes to keep her children in school.
