Irma's story

Irma M. S. owns land where she plants various crops near the city of Pucallpa, in the Ucayali region of Peru. On this land she plans to plant cilantro, peppers, corn, and sugarcane. Irma has a lifetime of experience farming and harvesting in the Peruvian Amazon Basin.

Irma is 66 years old, has four children, and is happily married. She loves working and helping her family. In the future she plans on investing in the business and increasing production. The family currently uses only a small percentage of their land.

A member of the community bank Las Abejitas, Irma is requesting a loan of $550 to repay over four months. She will use the loan to buy seeds to plant her future crops.
