Ghana Star Bakery Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT), a partner of Kiva.org in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone, is very pleased to present to you members of the “Ghana Star Bakery” group. These are small scale entrepreneurs who have come to SMT/Kiva lenders to seek a loan of 1,200,000.00 Sierra Leonean Leones (SLL) for each in the group in order to invest in their businesses.

Maseray is the leader of this group. Maseray is thirty-seven-years-old, married with four children who are attending primary school. Maseray sells gara cloths (locally dyed cloths). With the help of this loan, Maseray will invest in her business by buying materials like ink, caustic soda, powder, white cotton cloths, etc., in order to produce a large quantity of gara cloths for sale.
