Flor De Maria's story

Señora Flor de María is a member of the commuanl bank "Mujeres Productivas" (Productive Women) in Manantay District, Ucayali Department. She is married and has 3 grown children, each with families of their own. She has been working with loans offered by Manuela Ramos for two years so she can set up her business renting rooms. She has two bedrooms made from wood in the back of her house. With this new loan of 1,000.00 nuevos soles (USD $375), she plans to purchase: 5 sheets of plywood, 1 kilo of nails, 50 pieces of tongue and groove wood and 2 buckets of paint. Señora Flor de María's husband works in a sawmill. He receives a fixed monthly incomes. It's not much, but it's stable and they know they will be able to pay back the loan to Manuela Ramos.
