A loan of $500 helped to purchase additional retail stock such as flour, beans, salt, sugar, etc.

Dama's story

Dama lives in the coastal town of Mariakani, Kenya. The area is located along the road linking two Kenya cities and is often visited by many traders. She is a married mother of four children and runs a retail shop that has been in operation for the last five years. She started the business from her own savings.

Dama was introduced to Milango by a friend and is applying for a loan of 41,850 Kenya shillings to purchase additional retail stock such as flour, beans, salt, sugar, etc.

Dama is optimistic that the income from this loan will help her pay for her children's education. The challenge has been the high cost of materials, a situation she hopes to resolve by purchasing the items in bulk.

Her future ambition is to own a wholesale shop.
