Mercedes's story

Mercedes is an entrepreneur who has made progress in her goal thanks to her capacity of work and love for her family, which consists of her husband and three children, ranging in ages from 14 to 23 years old. She is the owner of a business, through which she generates income for the family managing the making and selling of school lunches and snacks, which she began 4 years ago. With the help of her sister-in-law, she was able to sell at a market consisting of 300 school students, and she has been doing well.

Little by little Mercedes has been able to expand what she offers, preparing lunches and other distinctive products and now she has a domestic market made up of her neighbors, many of them working with no time for meal preparation. Also she serves nearby construction workers. Her dream is to grow and expand her market, but her working capital is often insufficient in order to meet her goals of prosperity. This is the reason for which she is asking for a Kiva loan, her first financing through the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, in order to buy raw materials and supplies with which she will be able to get substantial discounts by buying in volume and this is the groundwork for the success of her Kiva loan that has her enthused and dreaming.
