Lisset Christina's story

Lisset is a young woman of 21 who lives in the city of Pisco, known for its beautiful beaches, rich food, and as the city where we find the “Isles of Springs,” visited by many tourists all year round. Also, agriculture is important, especially cultivating cotton. Lisset is a hard-working young woman, but when she has a little time off she likes to listen to music and, on occasions, to eat one of her favorite dishes, which is the tasty “Chicken with Garlic.” She only completed secondary school, but she would have liked to study nursing.

Day after day, Lisset works in her store selling groceries, soft drinks, and beer. She works around 10 hours a day and can serve as many as 35 customers in a day. She thinks her business is doing well, due to her pleasantness and, above all, because her customers have gotten to know her.

Lisset is very grateful to Kiva lenders because, their help enables her to order more merchandise for her business, including canned tuna, soft drinks, vegetable stews, rice, and sugar by the sack, among other items. Thus, by this means, she can have more product variety and improve her income, allowing Lisset to continue struggling day by day to make her grandest dream a reality: to be able to study for a career in Technical Nursing.
