Rachael's story

Rachael is 36 years old and lives in the town of Mbale in the Mbale region of Uganda. She is married and has three children who are all currently in school. For the past 4 years, Rachael has been working hard to manage her small shop, which sells cosmetics.

To help expand her business, Rachael has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more cosmetics like body lotions for resale and will help Rachael to generate greater profits and increase her profits from her business. Rachael hopes that in the future she will be able to become more rich.

Rachael is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Rachael who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for micro-loans.
