Sonia Roxana's story

Sonia is a 40 year old woman who lives in the city of Ica. Sonia managed to get her children ahead with great effort and action, and succeed against the adversities after separating from her husband. In her free time she likes making delicious desserts and on occasion prepares delicious “Carapulcra,” a dish she and her children like. Sonia completed high school. Sadly she was not able to attend university due to lack of resources, but she would have liked to study nutrition.

Thanks to her entrepreneurial spirit and her mother’s encouragement, Sonia started her small business, which is a store where she sells groceries, drinks, snacks, and some sweets like “chocotejas” and bon bons. She dedicates about eight hours a day to her business and believes that her business is doing well because her customers are happy due to her friendliness and good service.

Sonia is very happy with the Kiva loans and thanks to the assistance she will be able to buy merchandise such as groceries, sugar, rice, cooking oil, etc. Also, since Sonia is sick and will use the assistance to pay the expenses related to her surgery and will buy the necessary medicines. In this way she can improve her health, increase her income, and little by little realize her dream to finish building her house.
