A loan of $1,225 helped to buy farming supplies.

Santos's story

Santos is a young man who has tremendous drive to succeed. He is a farmer and a very hard worker. Santos lives in a small community in southern Costa Rica called La Danta, which is located in Concepción de Pilas, Puntarenas. The local economy is based on agricultural activities such as growing tubers, coffee, corn, beans, as well as raising cattle.

Santos is requesting a loan of 600,000 CRC in order to buy farming supplies for planting such as compost, fungicides, and herbicides to protect his crops throughout the production process. With the use of compost, Santos will increase the capacity of the soil to absorb various nutrients. The fungicides will prevent the appearance of fungus on his crops and result in a better quality product for his customers. He will also be able to fulfill all of his obligations and payments so that his family can get ahead.

Santos is a member of La Danta Communal Credit Enterprise, S.A., one of the 110 credit organizations in Costa Rica. This is his second loan.
