A loan of $1,000 helped to purchase clothing, purses and perfumes.

Susana Patricia's story

In the Santa Martha zone of the Riochico parish in Portoviejo, the members of the communal bank "Querer es poder de Riochico" ("Where there's a will there's a way" of Riochico) gather together every 15 days. This area is known for its vegetation and most of its inhabitants work in agriculture.
There lives Susana. She's 26 years old and in a common law marriage. From this union she has a 7-year-old daughter who attends school. Her husband works abroad.
Our friend has the drive to earn her own income and therefore be able to get ahead. She sells clothing, perfumes, lotions and purses. She sells door-to-door and also from her home, where her customers arrive once she receives the merchandise her husbands sends from the U.S. There's also a lady who brings her merchandise from that country, and as soon as something new arrives, her customers come to her home in order to buy her products. She sells to her customers on credit and collects payments every 8 days. She has been in this business for 7 years; she started it after her daughter was born and it's going very well.
She will use this loan to pay for the clothing, the purses and the perfumes she just received. She has been in the communal bank from the very beginning and she likes it because of the help she gets from the loans.
Her dreams are to make progress in her business and in her family life.
