A loan of $1,700 helped a member to buy fertilizer and pay for land preparation.

Hoeuy's Group's story

A rural villager living in the Moung Russey district, Hoeuy is a 55-year-old mother of seven children: six daughters and one son. Out of her seven children, she has one child who is still school. She earns a living through farming rainy-season rice to support her big family. She has been in this primary business for more than 10 years.

Hoeuy has been with Kiva's partner, VisionFund, for four loan cycles already while the other members in the group have been with VisionFund for three to four cycles. She successfully repaid the prior loans, which has enabled her to support her family better. With her current business, she can earn around 18,000 KHR per day. With the need to support her business, she is leading her group of five female members to apply for another loan with VisionFund. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to buy fertilizer and pay for land preparation. She hopes this loan will help her business prosper and she hopes to keep her child in school.
