A loan of $950 helped a member to buy fertilizer and seedlings and prepare her land for her crops.

Srun's Group's story

Srun and her husband have been farming rice and growing cassava for 10 years to support their family. They live with their children in a rural area located in Dambae district, where growing cassava to sell is a common business. Srun's biggest challenge is when the price of cassava drops, leaving her family with insufficient funds to continue the business and pay for her children's education.

Srun obtained her first loan from VisionFund in 2011. Having completely repaid her previous obligation to VisionFund, Srun is now applying for her second loan, while her other two group members are applying for their second and third loans, respectively. As group leader, Srun will use her portion to buy fertilizer and seedlings and to prepare her land for her crops. She hopes the loan wiill help her to grow good-quality crops so she can sell them at a high price and as a result have enough money to support her family and pay her girls' school fees.
