A loan of $1,125 helped to repair and maintain her motor-taxis so that they function properly and can be rented out to clients.

Madrid Lorena's story

Madrid is 46 years old, and lives in the city of Ica. She is married and has a son who is 18 years old. In her free time, she likes to spend time with her family and cook her favorite dish, “Arroz con Pollo” (Chicken with Rice). Through much hard work, Madrid was able to complete her secondary studies, but was unable to continue her education at the university level, though she would have liked to study law.

Madrid is an enthusiastic, hardworking woman who makes a living running a clothing and shoe sales business. She also operates a motor-taxi rental business, and dedicates about six hours per day to her business. In that time, she can attend up to nine clients. Her customers are faithful to her, since she treats them well and is very kind and charismatic.

Madrid is very grateful to Kiva lenders for their support, and as a result of the support from this loan, she has been able to repair and do general maintenance on her motor-taxis to keep them running smoothly for her clients to rent. She hopes that this steady maintenance and care will help her to increase her income and, in the near future, and allow her to purchase her own store space for her clothing and shoe sales business. She hopes, as she expands her businesses, to improve her quality of life and her family’s quality of life.
