A loan of $750 helped to purchase an electric mixer for making cakes and pastries.

Lorena Isabel's story

Lorena is a housewife, and also operates a business selling pastries and birthday cakes. She is married and has one son. She studied to become a teacher and started down that career path, but when her mother died, she did not have anyone to care for her son while she was away at work. By baking and selling cakes and other baked goods, she found another way to generate income and help with household expenses, while at the same time being present in her son’s life. Her husband works as a heavy load driver. Lorena is requesting a Kiva loan in order to purchase an electric mixer for making her cakes and pastries. The support from this loan will be of great help to her as it will allow her to streamline and speed up her baking process, helping her to complete more customer orders in a shorter amount of time. She hopes, in time, to turn her bakery into a famous bakery that is well known and serves a large customer base, making her a successful businesswoman in the city of Granada.
