A loan of $1,225 helped to buy bulls to sell.

Crescent's story

Crescent is a 30-year-old man with three children. He is divorced but lives with his three children who are eight (twins) and 10. He also has one dependant, his niece, because his brother is incapable of taking good care of her. All the children attend school.

Crescent buys and sells goats and young bulls. He supplements the income from the above with farming. He started the business in 2007 and works every day of the week. He chose this business because he is experienced, having witnessed his father do it since he was a child.

He wants this particular loan to buy young bulls, which he will raise for three months and sell when the value has appreciated. He usually transports them to the city and sells them to abattoirs.

His dream is to see his business expand to big volumes so that he is able to transport many bulls at once. His major challenge is the death of the bulls due to sickness. At times there are quarantines when there is an outbreak of diseases like foot and mouth disease.

Crescent is a very hardworking and shrewd man.
