Karoti Group's story

Dafrosa is in her early 40s and is married with four children who go to school. She has had a shop selling food stuffs and cold drinks since 2005. She works from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily and is able to make a fair monthly profit. This will be her 9th loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loans to repair her shop by putting in more shelves and floor tiles, to buy land, and for household expenses; she has paid back all her loans successfully. Dafrosa wants a loan to open a clothing shop. Her dream is to one day be able to build her own house. She will share this loan with her loan group "Karoti," which has a total of 16 members who will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.
