With her loan she wants to buy fertilizers, weed-killers and pay for labour to help with the coffee upkeep, this way she can make sure she will do a good job.
What she wants is to take advantage of the good condition of the soil and the topography that the land has for this crop, aswell as to use the experience she has in coffee upkeep, also to be able to buy the best products with the best quality so her crop will have a good development and good crop health and to have an adequate production in a short to mid term.
This is the first loan she has with "Fudecosur". She hasn't had any other loan with state banks, but "Fudecosur" has given her the loan with better facilities and at a lower interest rate.
More information about this loan
FUDECOSUR works in one of the poorest regions of Costa Rica, where microfinance institutions (MFIs) are scarce or have a hard time keeping up with demand for small loans. By providing mostly agricultural loans, FUDECOSUR reaches rural borrowers that many MFIs consider to be too risky. However, this has also made it more difficult for the organization to find stable sources of capital to lend. Kiva's flexible, risk-tolerant capital plays a critical role in helping FUDECOSUR grow its portfolio and support even more borrowers.
About FUDECOSUR:The Foundation for the Development of Southern Communities (FUDECOSUR) is dedicated to economically empowering its clients by providing credit and training programs that help improve living conditions for micro-entrepreneurs and their children across Southern Costa Rica.
