Djekafo (La Même Voix) Group's story

Djekafo (The Same Voice) is a group of women from the first neighbourhood of Koutiala who know each other well and live in large traditional families with their husbands, children, and other relatives. On average they are 36 years old, 2 are single, and 7 married with at least 3 children.
This group of women trade in various articles such as clothing, soap, and different sorts of catering. To enlarge their businesses, the members decided to join the Soro Yiriwaso credit programme two years ago. This is their third group loan.
Aïchata is a member of the Djekafo group, she sells all sorts of condiments and is sitting in the middle in the photo opposite her condiments.
She plans to use her loan to buy, little by little, her stock of condiments such as onion, garlic, tomato concentrate, and spices. She buys her products at the market in Koutiala and in Bamako. She sells her wares retail for cash to all sorts of different people.
Whereas the other members of the Djekafo group each plan to make an average profit of 85.000FCFA from this loan, Mme Fatoumata plans to make 95.000FCFA.
In addition to the repayment of the loan, the group use part of the loan to assume the everyday expenses of the family.
