A loan of $1,300 helped a member buy agricultural inputs and pay for labor.

Yeredon 3 Group's story

The ten members of the Yeredon 3 group are married women who are on average 43 years old with five children, all living in polygamous families in Foh, one of the villages of Sikasso, third administrative region of Mali.

They work with the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution to help carry out their agricultural activities during the rainy season. They are on their fifth loan with the institution, and past loans have been repaid in full.

Titoudo grows rice, and is the first person standing from left to right in the photo. With her loan, she intends to buy inputs and pay for labor to cultivate 1 hectare (approximately 2.5 acres). After harvest, the crop is sold at village level and at the Sikasso market, to both men and women customers.

She expects to make an average profit of 140,000 FCFA per crop. The profits will enable her to pay off her loan and also to help her husband with daily expenses.
