Monica Isabel's story

Mónica lives in Duran. She is 32 and she is a technician by profession. She tells us that she was born in the city of Esmeraldas but decided to live in Duran to get out of poverty. Esmeraldas is a beautiful city, above all because of its beaches and culture. Currently, the government is giving a lot of importance to tourism, but 15 years ago, it was practically abandoned, so many people from that province decided to move. Despite having finished college, Mónica doesn't work as a technician; she sells clothing and cosmetics. Her business is in her home where she stores and selects merchandise to sell. She does her job by herself starting in the mornings and returns to attend to her home in the afternoon. She is a single mother, and this business has helped her considerably because she manages her time without any problems, and it lets her spend time with her family. Her children attend a public school, and when they can, they help her with her business. She would like to be able to obtain this loan to buy merchandise like shirts, blouses, pants, and cosmetics for men and women. Her dream is to improve her home by adding another floor to rent out and have extra money for her family.
