A loan of $1,050 helped to buy fertilizer, to buy foliar fertilizer, and to pay for the maintenance labor on the coffee farm.

Jose Asencion's story

José, age 26, is married and has two children. He lives in a village in the Gualcinse municipality in Lempira.

He has grown up in a family devoted to agriculture. He previously only grew basic crops like corn and beans. Four years ago he started growing coffee. He sells green coffee (the coffee seed before it is roasted, and after it is processed and dried) in the area where he lives.

He is requesting 20,000 lempiras, his second loan with the institution. He will use the loan to buy fertilizer, to buy foliar fertilizer, and to pay for the maintenance labor on the coffee farm. His plan is to continue giving the farm good care in order to get earnings and be able to give his children a better quality of life.
