A loan of $625 helped to buy raw materials and supplies to manufacture uniforms.

Ofelia's story

Ofelia lives in the city of Cartagena; she’s the mother of two children who are 25 and 26 years old. She works in the traditional art of dressmaking. With this activity she’s generated income to support her household because she started learning this occupation precisely when she separated from her husband and needed to attain economic independence and to support her two children’s wellbeing who she’s managed to provide professional education to so that they can be successful in the future.

Ofelia got her first Fundación Mario Santo Domingo financing a year ago and with it managed to acquire her own house and to attain many of her dreams for prosperity. She’s currently applying for a Kiva loan she plans to use to buy raw materials and supplies to manufacture uniforms some schools have ordered and she needs to make purchases in large volume to earn good discounts so that her offer will be competitive. Her goal for later on is to attain good market position, to hire employees and to dedicate herself to running her business.
