Ojo De Agua Group's story

Isidora, 53, is married and has three children; she lives with her husband in a village in the municipality of Jesús de Otoro, Lempira.

Isidora is a very active woman who is well-known in her community; she organizes work groups. She’s been working in agriculture for 12 years with her husband; they mainly grow coffee. She sells the coffee beans and also processes it and sells it ground and packaged to businesses or grocery stores.

She has asked ODEF for several previous loans for her business and is currently asking for her 9th loan in the amount of 10,000 lempiras to buy fertilizer and manure for coffee crop maintenance and also to pay labor costs to clear the fields since this is her source of income and they need to keep it well cared for. Her objective in continuing to work is to improve her and her family’s standard of living.

She belongs to the “Ojo de Agua” communal bank that has four members who grow coffee and live in the same community. In the photo they can be identified thus: to the left is Carlos followed by Isidora then María and on the right is Carlos Antonio. At the group level, they are requesting 37,000 lempiras.
