A loan of $1,125 helped a member to pay labour expenses and to buy agricultural inputs and seeds.

Tièssiri V Group's story

The members of the Tièssiri V group are married women with an average age of 42, on average 4 children, and who all live in polygamous families in Tiébiziédougou, one of the villages in Kadiolo, 3rd administrative region of Mali. They are working with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso in order to be able to carry out their farming activities during the rainy season. This is their 3rd loan with the institution. Their previous loans have been properly repaid.

Touketio, sitting in the picture, farms groundnuts. She plans to use her loan to buy agricultural inputs and seeds and to pay for the labourers that she needs to maintain 1.5 hectares of farmland. She sells her harvested produce in her village and at the Kadiolo market, to a customer base composed of resellers and consumers. She expects to make an average profit of 100 000 francs per crop cycle. This profit will enable her to repay her loan as well as to support her husband with the daily expenditures.
