A loan of $1,375 helped to purchase more clothes, lappas, slippers, and artificial hair in order to expand her business.

Beatric Toe.'s story

Beatrice Toe is 40 years old and lives in the New Kur Town area. She’s married with 4 children aged 6 to 18, all of whom live at home and attend school. For the past 5 years she has been involved in the sale of clothes, lappas (a traditional West African cloth), slippers, and artificial hair. Beatrice has requested this loan to purchase more clothes, lappas, slippers, and artificial hair in order to expand her business into a larger one. The problem she’s faced with is the changing of USD to Liberian dollars. She started this business by selling cool water in a wheel barrow, which she learnt from friends. What she likes about this business is that she makes new friends and meets people each and every day. Her business makes her proud of having money in her handbag every day. In the future she wants to open another shop in her community.
