Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Rosa's story

Rosa is 40 years old. She is a good and very hard-working woman. She has been separated from her partner for many years; she had to bring up her two children alone, but they are now independent adults and provide her with a great deal of support.

Rosa works selling drinks of all kinds. She orders her products wholesale so that she can then sell them to her neighbours and to some occasional customers who pass by her house. She has been in this business for 5 years and she likes it because she can manage her own time. Later on, she hopes to be able to expand her business, as she considers that it brings her very good earnings given the good location and that her experience has taught her to treat her customers well so that they always come back.

This is her fourth loan with MFP and she is very happy to know that she will have the economic support to allow her to continue with her plans by belonging to a communal bank where all members are responsible and supportive. She is a woman who keeps her word: she has been a member of the group for many years and until now she has always been punctual. With the amount of 2000 soles requested, she will buy more drinks to meet the orders of all her customers who demand that she stocks all the different brands and flavours.
