Oracle Plus Group's story

Ben is the leader of the Community Bank, “Oracle Plus”. The group is composed of thirteen members united in solidarity to receive loans from Kiva through MFI HOPE RDC with the goal of developing their businesses. Ben makes his living by selling home appliances at the market. He began his business in 1997. With hard work and determination, his business has prospered. Ben is now well-known and liked through his business. He is a trustworthy client who received three times the MFI HOPE DRC loans and fully repaid them. Since that time his business has prospered, and the loans he has received have helped him rent a well-located business place. He makes about US $120 of profit each week. Ben intends to use the next loan to purchase more home appliances in bulk to meet the customer demand and generate additional profits. He is 33 years old, married, and a father of three children, aged between 6 months and 8 years old, of whom two go to school. His ambition is to open a general store in his area.
