Martin is a 29-year-old married man with two children who are six and four years old. One of the children goes to school.
Martin has been in the business of selling used clothes since 2006 and works six days a week by moving from market to market on different designated days. He supplements his income by growing beans, maize and coffee, which he sells if they are in surplus. Martin has no specific clients but sells to people from all walks of the countryside within Rakai.
His major challenge comes during the rainy season when they barely work since they have to protect the goods from getting wet and sometimes the goods fall off the trucks during transportation.
Martin's dream is to start a wholesale shop so that he can stop hawking but also sell to retailers.
He describes himself as honest and resilient. UGAFODE loans have enabled him to expand his business and meet his family's needs.
