A loan of $700 helped to buy pigs to raise and butcher.

Gilma Cristelia's story

Gilma makes her living growing basic grains and raising pigs. She's an honest woman and a real fighter. She lives with her children, who are fifteen, thirteen, nine, six, and five-years-old, and they're all dependent. The four older ones are in school. Her husband helps her out with the pig farm, which she's had for two years. Gilma is currently seeking a loan to buy pigs to raise and butcher. She'll also buy feed concentrate. The investment will help her have a sizable business, which is more profitable. By having more pigs she'll make more income. She does risk variation in pig prices. Gilma's goal for the future is to improve her business, and have more pigs so the farm will generate more income, enabling her to support her children's education.
