Sarah is married and has five children, three of whom attend school. She has a business selling charcoal, both retail and wholesale. She has been in this business for seven years and works from her home. She has applied for a loan of 2,000,000 UGX from MCDT SACCO to buy more bags of charcoal.
In addition to her charcoal business, she generates additional income selling fire wood. Her major business challenges include the rainy season and transportation of bags of charcoal from villages of Luwero to her home. Sarah is hoping to see her business grow bigger so that she earns enough profit to build rental rooms and buy a heifer cow, which she will use to start selling milk. She resides in her own home; her family has access to electricity but not to piped water. Her monthly expenses include school fees and feeding her family.
