A loan of $950 helped to buy fertilizer and rent a tractor to till the family’s fields.

Nargiza's story

Nargiza is sixty years old and lives with her husband, Murad, in Abasha District, West Georgia. Murad works for a local company while Nargiza runs the family dairy. They have three milk cows that produce on average sixty kilograms of traditional Georgian cheese a month which they sell on the local open market to dairy product retailers.

The family also owns three hectares of land on which they grow maize. Nargiza uses the maize to feed the cows and sells the rest at the local market. The family’s total average monthly income is 350 GEL.

Nargiza requested a 1500 GEL loan from Credo to buy fertilizer and rent a tractor to till the family’s fields. By doing so the family can hope for a better harvest that can be sold for a higher price. Nargiza and Murad will use their profits to cover the family’s daily needs.
