Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $350 helped to buy corn, wood, gas, lime, as well as lotions, creams, and cosmetic goods.

Claudia Patricia's story

25 year old Claudia is a university student and she works selling tortillas and products from a catalog. She lives at home with her mother who helps her with the tortilla business. Claudia very much wants to succeed academically and to finish her university course. For this reason, she needs a loan to invest in her current sources of income. For the tortilla business, she needs to buy corn, wood, gas, and lime; and for the catalog business, she thinks that she will use the loan to buy lotions, creams, and cosmetics. Claudia believes that a greater investment in raw materials and goods to sell will bring her the income she needs to achieve her goals as she wants to achieve a quality of life different to that which her parents have had. She hopes that, through her work and the help of this institution, she will be able achieve her dream.
