Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,000 helped to buy sweet breads, cookies, sweets, fruit, etc.

Vilma Isabel's story

Vilma Isabel is 64, and lives with her family, made up of her 65-year-old husband and her two children, ages 30 and 26. It is a very close family, and everyone works to cover the basic necessities such as the family's food and clothing.

Vilma works in a small store set up in a school in the area where she lives. Every day she goes there very early to run her business. She works from 7:00am to 1:00pm. She has a good clientele among the teachers and students of the school. She wishes to add to her inventory, in order to attract more buyers and allow her to improve the income earned by the business.

She is applying to Integral for this loan in order to buy merchandise for supplying her store, such as sweet bread, cookies, sweets, candy, fruit, etc.

She is fully confident that in this way she will succeed in contributing a bit more to the household finances, as the situation is more and more difficult, and the basic necessities are not getting covered.
