A loan of $800 helped to buy perfumes, creams, cosmetics, silver jewellery, and lingerie.

Miriam Migdalia's story

The “Amistad” (Friendship) communal bank meets every fifteen days in the city of Tosagua, a place known for being very dynamic where most of its residents raise animals and are farmers because it’s an area with much vegetation.

Miriam is 41 years old, married, and has two adult sons, one of whom still lives with her. Her husband is employed in the private sector.

Miriam is a housewife who to obtain her own income and thus help her husband with the household expenses, has been selling "Vizón" silver jewellery, "Leonisa" lingerie, and "Esika" products (beauty products, cosmetics, perfumes and ladies accessories). She works every day preparing meals for delivery. She sells beauty products door-to-door on credit and collects every eight days. She has been doing this for nine years and is doing quite well. She buys her silver and "Vizón" jewellery from a distributor in Chone.

The loan will be used to buy perfumes, creams, cosmetics, silver jewellery, and lingerie. She has been with the communal bank for eight years and she likes it because the payments are easy to make.

Her dream is to have a boutique.
