A loan of $800 helped to buy basic grains, beans, rice, lard, corn flour, sweets, meat, and soft drinks, etc. in order to stock her buisiness.

Mariela Elizabeth's story

Mariela, age 30, is in a common law marriage. She lives with her husband and four children in the city of Puerto Cortes.

Mariela’s source of income is from a small grocery store that she established three years ago in order to get her own resources. In her business she sells basic grocery items like flour, rice, lard, beans, sweets (churros and cookies), and soft drinks, etc. With the income from the business she has been able to cover some of the household expenses.

She is requesting a loan for 15,000 lempiras from ODEF in order to stock up on products like basic grains, sweets, meat, and soft drinks, etc. With this investment she will be able to increase her income and offer more products to her customers.

Her goal is to make her business grow little by little. This way she will give her children a better quality of life.
