A loan of $500 helped to buy perfume, creams, cosmetics, and materials to make sheets and pillows.

María Silvia's story

In the beautiful city of Bahía de Caraquez, known for its beautiful beaches, for its rich and varied cuisine and for the warmth of its people, the communal bank Sociedad de Bahía meets twice a month.

We meet here María who is 53 years old. She is a single mother of a son who is an independent adult. She has been with the communal bank since it began and she likes it because of the help it has given throughout that time to get ahead.

Our friend, in order to obtain her own resources and thereby be able to get ahead alone without having to inconvenience anyone, sells Yanbal products (beauty products, cosmetics, perfumes, and accessories for women). She also makes cushions, pillows, and sheets for babies with various embroidery and motifs. Also, in order to earn a bit more she prepares lunches from Monday through Fridays but only for delivery. She works every day at all her activities, at one thing or the other, doing these activities for more than ten years and she tells us that this is how she has been able to manage alone.

This loan will be used to buy perfume, creams, cosmetics and materials to make her sheets and pillows.

Her dreams are to have a large workshop and a bazaar.
