A loan of $1,000 helped to buy clothing, shoes, handbags, and costume jewelry.

Sofia Del Rosario's story

In the beautiful city of Bahía de Caraquez, known for its beautiful beaches, for its rich and varied cuisine and for the warmth of its people, the communal bank Sociedad de Bahía meets twice a month.

We meet here Sofía, who is 50 years old. She is single and lives at home with her parents. She has been with the communal bank for five years and she likes it because the loans are a big help and the interest is very low.

Our friend works as as public employee, but she also sells clothing, shoes, handbags and costume jewelry. She tells us that she sells her items at her workplace and in her free time and at night when she has time she drops off items on credit and collects payment twice a month, buying her merchandise in Guayaquil when she needs to. She is able to help her parents who are elderly.

This loan will be used to buy clothing, shoes, handbags and costume jewelry among other items.

Her goals are to get ahead and to buy a car for her traveling sales work.
