Ana is a private nurse and works in a home. She has 4 children and she works a lot for their sake in order to support them and give them a good education, since she is separated. On the advice of a friend, she started to sell beauty products: this gives her additional income with which to pay for necessities and especially for her children's education. She sells her products to neighbours, friends, and colleagues, who are potential clients. In the future, she would like to set up a bigger business where she would sell a greater variety of products. Ana belongs to communal bank La Fortaleza. With the loan she just received, she will buy various beauty products such as perfume, cream and make-up. Thus she will be able to move forward and achieve the objectives she set for herself. Ana is shown on the upper right (inset photo).

This is a Group Loan
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
