A loan of $1,500 helped to buy cement, iron, and sand, and to pay someone to assist him with building his home.

Ramón's story

Sr. Ramón is 35 years old, married, and has three children. He has been involved in agriculture since childhood, having learned the trade from his father who he helped with the work around the farm. In the morning he would be studying, and then help with the family chores in the afternoon. Ramón also learned the skills required to be a plumber and bricklayer, so that he could rely on different ways of working in order to get ahead.

Don Ramón has a a good home life with his wife and children. He looks for ways to maintain his household and provide a good education for his children. They study at the central school in their community, so he has decided to work very hard to stay on top of all the expenses.

Ramón purchases materials for each of his jobs in a city that is about 15 kilometers from his house. He must travel by bus both ways and carry his merchandise using the same method of transport. Don Ramón is requesting a loan in order to buy cement, iron, and sand. He will also pay another person to help with construction since he is the primary builder. This will enable him to continue with the construction of his home, which has made a bit of progress, but he lacks the money. The main need to be satisfied is the purchase of necessary supplies for building his home. Ramón and his family are living at his sister's house at the moment until his house is completed. He says that his life will improve once the construction of his house is finished. Ramón will have a decent home where he can live with his family. His wish is to finish the construction of his house so that his children can have a place of their own to play. He also wants to expand his home even more. By continuing to work and earn more income, he will able to add more room to his house and still sustain his family.
