Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $175 helped to restock his business with fruits and vegetables.

Norberto's story

Norberto is 47 years old and lives in the subdivision of Zona Periférica in the city of San Pedro Sula with his partner and their three children.

Sr. Norberto earns his living by selling all types of fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes, chili peppers, cabbage, melons, mangoes, bananas, onions, and other items. He has been this business for eight years and is able to generate necessary income for his household. His sales are conducted as a street merchant by parking his cart every day within close proximity of the local market.

Norberto is working with ODEF for the first time and is requesting a loan of 3,000 HNL so that he can restock with fresh products, such as seasonal fruits and all types of vegetables, to offer to his customers and increase sales. All of his efforts are geared toward improving his income so that he can provide his family with a better life.
