Elijah's story

Elijah is 41 years old, married and the father of three children who range in age from 3 years to 12 years old. He describes himself as jovial, creative and ambitious. He earns a living by operating a retail business where he sells bricks. He has been in this business for 14 years and employs five people. His business is located near a busy town, and most of his customers are institutions and local residents. He says his biggest business challenge is a shortage of funds he can use to improve his business. He is requesting a loan for KES 50,000 loan to buy a quarry worth KES 25,000 and hire workers who will cost another KES 25,000. His goal for the future is to buy a vehicle for transportation, and to own five quarries within five years. In the future, he also hopes to own several acres of land.
