Umazi is a 45-year-old married woman with five children between the ages of 17 and 25 years. Three of her children are in school. She is married to Mwachipuli. Umazi has been operating a food stall for the last 10 years, selling her goods from home. Her side job is farming. Her dream is to expand the business and open a hotel. Umazi joined Yehu to get access to loans. She owns a house that has piped water but no electricity.
With the loan of KES 50,000, she plans to purchase wheat flour, sugar, and maize flour.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
