Alejandrina is a 54-year old married woman with a child living in Campo 4, Ramon Magsaysay. Her husband is a farmer. In order to add income for the family, she entered into a retail business two years ago. She usually gets 5,000 PHP each month. With the help of GDMPC microcredit, Alejandrina is able to buy more fruits to sell because of the 12,000 PHP loan rendered to her. She joined GDMPC in 2009. She hopes for a much greater revenue for a business expansion.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
